PREHOSPITAL MEDICINE

Stroke is one of the golden-hour emergencies in which the swift timing of conclusive diagnosis and treatment dramatically impacts patient outcome and their chances of meaningful recovery. One in six will experience a stroke in their lifetime. Rapid access to treatment dramatically improves a patient’s ability to survive a stroke and maintain their independence. Learn about how building a Mobile Stroke Unit (MSU) in your community can improve clinical outcomes and the quality of life for stroke survivors.

CLINICAL CORE LAB

Clinical trials in neurology, cardiology and other congruent fields often require various elements of clinical and neurological assessment as part of their trial endpoints. Historically, these evaluations were heavily reliant on in-person expert clinical assessment. With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, telehealth has become a cornerstone of clinical practice. The same powerful technology can enable the reach of experts to clinical trial participants and enable them to perform reliable and uniform remote neurological assessment as recommended by the FDA in decentralized clinical trials.

OUR MISSION

Our Mission is to transform the landscape of neurological assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Our Prehospital Care division focuses on the implementation of mobile platforms for emergency medical care for stroke and other golden hour emergencies using the most technologically-advanced, innovative resources, while our Clinical Core Lab serves to streamline remote, telehealth-enabled neurological assessment of patients for clinical trials. Our Vision is to build upon the advancement of prehospital medical technology and telehealth systems to advance clinical care and research for neurological disease. Our Values are to continually evolve and advance in delivering the highest level of expert guidance and neurological assessment from experts renowned in the field.

FOUNDER

Dr. May Nour is the founder of NeuroMerit. Graduating from the University of Arizona College of Medicine where she earned her MD degree, Dr. Nour also earned a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Oklahoma Center for Neurosciences. Dually trained at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) as a vascular and interventional neurologist, Dr. Nour helped found the Arline & Henry Gluck Mobile Stroke Rescue Program as its medical director. Under her care, California’s first Mobile Stroke Unit (MSU) began clinical operations in 2017 and continues to operate in Los Angeles County. She has helped advise the startup of multiple national MSUs and has extensive experience in establishment of MSUs and their integration into clinical practice, prehospital medicine and emergency medical systems of care. As the PI, Co-PI and Investigator of multiple clinical trials in the fields of vascular neurology and neurointervention, Dr. Nour has extensive experience in clinical trial design, assessment and outcome analysis. She lends her vast experience and expertise, fueled by her passion for transforming the landscape of neurological care, to NeuroMerit. Her visionary focus in NeuroMerit is to advance the reach of telehealth in two domains, prehospital management of golden hour emergencies and remote assessment in clinical trials.
